It took me too long to realize I shouldn’t be taking any of my animals to Gretchen Gerber. I adopted my cat from her over a year ago and she had seen him many times. He constantly had tears running down his face and seemed to be in pain. This was ignored until I took him to Ashland Area Vet Clinic and they immediately knew his teeth were causing him pain. After extractions he was no longer crying and was eating again. Later, I found a box of 2 week old kittens. I signed them over to Gretchen but I continued to feed and take care of them. One kitten became very sick and stopped eating and didn’t want to move. I believed it had internal injury from an older cat. It was Labor Day Weekend and she didnt want to bring him to the clinic to do any x rays or tests to determine the problem. She insisted on seeing him at her house because she had family in town. She saw him twice a day for 3 days, pumped him full of fluids and medicine and claimed he would be fine. He was continuing to decline and refusing to eat. The 3rd day his temp dropped to 92 degrees and he died in my hands. Another vet told me the kitten should have been humanely euthanized right away as it was obvious he wouldn’t make it.
I live part time in Bayfield and I arrived late one Saturday evening only to find out that I forgot my dog's insulin. Well, of course, everything was closed including CVS that fills the prescription. My Twin Cities vet did not have an after hours call option, so I called Country Care Pet Hospital. I had boarded my dogs here several times and had great service. Without making too long of a story, I want to tell you that Dr. Gerber went above and beyond and helped me find a solution to my problem - which entailed an insulin prescription that had no refills! I felt care for and, more importantly, my old dog Bailey felt very cared for. This will be our primary vet when we move to Bayfield full time! Great experience! Sue and Bailey Nelson
Thank you Dr. Gerber for always being available and going at least ten extra miles to care for the Corgi contingency. You have seen them all this year, each for something different and ever so challenging yet you managed to sort them all out and care for them in a kind and caring manner.

Highly skilled Veterinarian and staff who want the very best for their furry clients. Dr. Gerber always does her best for her clients.
